Our Company

History

Pernix Group, Inc., formerly Telesource International, Inc., was formed in 1995 and, until July 1999, was a wholly owned by Sayed Hamid Behbehani & Sons Co. W.L.L. (SHBC); a Kuwait based civil, electrical and mechanical construction company. In August 2001, the company became an SEC reporting/listed company enabling us to attract investment from other investors. The Behbehani Family is still involved with Pernix and supports corporate initiatives.

Pernix Group handles projects for both private and public entities, including U.S. Government projects located around the world. Pernix’s first major project was to execute a multi-million dollar radio relay station for the United States Information Agency (formerly the Voice of America) on a remote Pacific island.

Among its many other global activities, Pernix operates and manages facilities in The Republic of Vanuatu and The Republic of Fiji, through two of its subsidiaries, Vanuatu Utilities and Infrastructure, Ltd., (VUI) and Pernix (Fiji) Ltd., (PFL). In January 2011, VUI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Vanuatu for the Luganville Electricity Concession on the island of Espiritu Santo. The concession involved a complete takeover of the utility including but not limited to operation and maintenance of the Hydro and Diesel generation plants, transmission and distribution, sub-station, customer service and billing, meter readings, extensions, expansion, etc. PFL is responsible for management of Pernix’s long-term 20 year maintenance and operation contracts in the Fiji Islands. Under this contract we O&M 72 MW of Diesel fired generators for the Fiji Electricity Authority. Pernix has also executed construction projects in Palau, Cyprus and Guam.

In 2005, Nidal Zayed was promoted to Chief Executive Officer and President. Nidal immediately set the company on a different course, articulated a new vision, and recruited world class executive and operational talent to help him execute his plans. Management is now focused on the continued expansion in the general construction and power generation markets, both worldwide and in the United States. Corporate plans have also included re-negotiation of several contracts and developing the foundation for significant growth. The firm has extensive investor and banking relationships around the world that have provided the resources and continued support of the corporate vision, plan and team.

Under the new management team, Pernix continues to actively seek joint venture partners and other strategic alliances to expand its market and to combine its knowledge and resources to greater benefit our clients.
