At Pernix, protecting the environment isn’t a trendy phrase, it’s part of our core culture. We take environmental stewardship seriously and incorporate specific measures into the planning of every project to significantly minimize our environmental impact.

Pernix Group has participated on Federal, DoD, and private pursuits in more than 30 countries for over $5 Billion worth of Sustainable Rated projects. Our team is uniquely familiar with the requirements on both the USGBC’s LEED program and the UK Green Building Council’s BREEAM certification. In addition, or team has participated on more than $3 Billion in Design-Build LEED pursuits for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO) and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) working in a collaborate environment with our A/E partners for design credits and administering our construction credits with our on-site staff. We have a 100% success rate for LEED Accredited Professionals (AP) and LEED Green Associates (GA) taking USGBC administered tests and a 67% rate of New LEED GAs through our new College Graduate “Pernix Forward” program within their first year of employment.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

st1Pernix is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is experienced at implementing the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) rating system within its projects. Our team understands sustainable design and construction procedures, and we can provide valuable sustainable guidance on your project either through Design-Build Charrettes or Value Engineered Constructability assessments.

We have constructed Fiji’s first LEED registered project, which is one of the earliest integration of the USGBC green rating system implemented internationally for the U.S. Department of State. Our preconstruction and operations staffs’ experience enable us to offer valuable tools to conduct Life Cycle Cost Analyses (LCCAs), qualifying payback periods, energy savings mitigation all in an effort to reduce the net energy output of our buildings, reduce Operations & Maintenance costs for the end-user, and to reduce the carbon emissions and usage of non-reusable energy. The same is needed for traveling and the carbon emissions produced during this time. We can look towards websites such as Cool Effect to help us understand better and also see what we can do as people and as a business in reducing our output.

Sustainable Construction

st2From detailed material management or the recycling of demolished concrete into base rock, to the protection of natural surroundings, environmental conservation and protection in the construction process requires personal and professional commitment. Our expertise and contracting resources facilitate the successful implementation of your sustainable or LEED requirements. Pernix is committed to building responsibly and we continue to demonstrate the economic advantages and ease of incorporating sustainable aspects into projects of any size.

Renewable Energy

It is now widely accepted that increasing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), and in particular carbon dioxide emissions, are the major contributor to global warming. While energy conservation, improving efficiency, alternate fuels, and renewable energy are all options for lowering GHG emissions, it is unfortunate that fossil fuels will continue to be the dominant energy source for the global economy in the foreseeable future. Having said that, Green Mountain Energy is just one provider in the USA (based in Texas) who is looking to help others choose a sustainable energy plan and there are more energy providers emerging who are interested in offering green energy for homes, generated from the sun, wind and other sustainable sources. If you are looking to become more sustainable, it might be a good idea to carry out an energy comparison with all the potential providers.

The Pernix team and its affiliates are currently pursuing options for renewable energy. Pernix continues to keep its focus on innovation, and we look forward to becoming a leading market contributor in developing cost-effective renewable energy options to meet the power generating requirements for our clients within this market segment.
